Local rainwater management in Anebjerg near Skanderborg

Anebjerg at Skanderborg is a new urban district sited on top of a groundwater aquifer. A sustainable, climate-assured urban development area is to be established here which takes into account both nature and the environment. Rainwater is managed locally, with the exception of road runoff, which is contaminated with harmful substances. The groundwater is protected by means of afforestation, the residents are  requested to refrain from using pesticides.

In Anebjerg, an open watercourse of 1.2 kilometres has been established which collects the rainwater which falls and has capacity to accommodate even the largest cloudbursts. The watercourse flows into a rainwater basin at the bottom of the area and from there on into the Illerup River.
